The School Challenge is perfect for all ages and abilities, the Joey Hoppet takes place on a wide, beautifully groomed course around the Sun Valley Loop at Falls Creek on mostly flat terrain.


The Joey School Competition has four categories for male (or mixed) and female teams from primary and secondary schools. 

Each team can have up to 5 skiers, with the best three times going toward the team’s result.  Schools may enter any number of teams.

How to Enter

All skiers must register individually online via the Hoppet website and then your school can enter the team/s by Wednesday 21st Aug.

Entry is FREE!

Prizes & awards

  • Each skier receives a participant’s badge, their souvenir bib and a show bag of goodies. A results certificate can be downloaded after the event.
  • Schools participating will receive a pennant that can be picked up at the presentation evening or on Sunday at the Hoppet Shop between 9am & 3pm. 
  • A perpetual trophy is awarded to the winning schools to display for 12 months.

AGL Junior Development Scholarships

Participants in the Joey Hoppet are also eligible for one of four $1000 AGL Junior Development scholarships awarded to the fastest Australian boy and girl skiers aged under 14 and under 18 years..

The age category is calculated on the age they turn this year. 


We have introduced a new environmental friendly initiative and will NOT be providing plastic cups at the drink stations on course. Instead you will need to carry your own drink bottle or hydration pack. Water and 32Gi will still be available at drink stations for refills.
