Walk it or Run it, the Conquestathon is the ultimate single day 21km return trek to the summit of Victoria’s highest mountain, Mt Bogong (1986 m).

You’ll be amazed at the spectacular views and changing landscapes along this iconic and challenging hiking track.

The Conquestathon is a total trek of 21km, but with 1286 metres elevation gain in only 5.5km up Staircase Spur to the summit of Victoria’s highest mountain (1986m) Descending down Eskdale spur and onto the 7km 4WD track at Camp Creek, back to the start/finish area at Mountain Creek Camp Ground.

In 2025 we will be celebrating the 45th staging of the Mt. Bogong Conquestathon.

Funds are being raised for the Birkebeiner Nordic Ski Club Search and Rescue (BNSC SAR) This crew of amazing volunteers assist police to locate people that get lost in our alpine areas. They are experienced bushwalkers, back country and cross-country skiers and mountaineers who have had specialist search and rescue training. We feel very lucky to have BNSC SAR Volunteers marshalling the CONQUESTATHON course for you on event day.

OPTIONAL: ENTER A TEAM

3 fastest entrants of the same team name will be automatically joined in a team. 3 fastest times will be added together for Fastest Team competition. There is also Largest Team competition for the team with most entrants.

  • Largest Team(team with the most registered participants that complete the event on the day)
  • Fastest Team (team with the quickest time, 1st three articipants completion times)

NO ENTRIES ON THE DAY

U18 Guidelines: There must be a parent/guardian in attendance and contactable during the whole event. This can be either an adult on the course as a participant or waiting at Mountain Creek Campground.

 

REGISTRATIONS CLOSE AT 10PM ON FRIDAY 28th FEBRUARY

Important Times for the event: 

  • Between 6.10am – 6.45am  Registration/ Bib collection – Mountain Creek Campground Tawonga, Victoria
  • 6.45am Mandatory Event Briefing at Start area
  • 7:00am Walkers / Hiker event starts
  • 8:00am All participants in the competitive running category must have started by this time
  • 10.30am Trophy presentation and photos
  • 11:30am Mount Bogong Summit cut off time
  • 2:00pm Camp Creek Gap cut off time

All entrants must be at the clocked check point at Mt Bogong summit by 11:30am.Failure to make this ‘Cut Off’ will mean that entrants need to return back down the Staircase Spur to Mountain Creek Campground. There will be NO exceptions.

Mount Bogong, the tallest mountain in Victoria is a mighty challenge and the organising committee recommends that you have undertaken a similar grade hike of at least 20km distance and 1,300 meters elevation gain, as training. This is so you know what to expect and how to manage your nutrition and hydration throughout the day.

  • The Female Course record time set by Tory Thomas is: 2hrs 31mins (2023)
  • The U18 Male Course record time is set by Alec Franzke is: 2hr 07mins (2023)
  • The U18 Female Course record time set by Rosie Franzke is: 3hr 51mins  (2023)

Locally designed and limited edition T-shirts & caps are available to purchase during registration.
