The Kangaroo Hoppet is now proud to present three amazing sporting events each year.
Whether you are an elite athlete wanting to take on the world’s best, a weekend warrior yearning for some more adrenalin in your life or you simply enjoy getting outdoors with your friends, we can offer you a range of exciting and exhilarating experiences in the beautiful mountains of the Alpine Shire.
Join us in the Upper Kiewa Valley, for the iconic Mt Bogong Conquestathon in February/March, the Mount Beauty Running Festival in May, and the Kangaroo Hoppet international cross country ski marathon at the Falls Creek Alpine Resort and Bogong High Plains in August.
All are made possible by our major sponsors, AGL Energy, Mount Beauty and District Community Bank, Falls Creek Resort and our dedicated team of volunteers.

There is plenty to look forward to at this year’s Kangaroo Hoppet — starting at bib pick-up. Every participant will receive a commemorative backpack as their showbag, made possible thanks to the support of Fischer Australia.
In addition to the traditional Hoppet buff, entrants will receive ski ties (Hoppet and Australian Birkebeiner skiers only) courtesy of Cross-Country Skiing Association Victoria (XCSAV), the peak community body of cross-country skiers in Victoria. Their committee has representatives from most ski areas who advocate for you year-round, primarily to Alpine Resorts Victoria. This year they’ve installed a snow cam at the Nordic Bowl in collaboration with the Hoppet and Birkebeiner Nordic Ski Club; advocated for snow fences at Hotham; run a trail working bee at Mt Baw Baw, and more.
The best thing you can do to help is join XCSAV - it’s free and puts you on their email list. The more members they have, the stronger the advocacy. Otherwise, you can join their Facebook group or add on Instagram @xcskiingvic. We look forward to seeing everyone representing XCSAV with their ski ties into the future and around the world!
