CAMILLE MELVEY'S FIS MARATHON CUP CAMPAIGN
The most recent event for Camille was a touch and go affair, the event held in Estonia was very close to being cancelled due to lack of snow. Thankfully the day after Camille arrived in Estonia the organising committee decided to run with a shortened event ! it was worth the long flight via Heathrow !.
Sunday 10th January 2002, 27 km Classical, Tartu Marathon, FIS Marathon Cup
RACE 2, Matu-Piri, Estonia full results: <http://www.worldloppet.com/>
* 1st Elin Nilsen, Sweden, 1:20:01
* 8th Camille Melvey, AUSTRALIA, 1:39:45, FIS Marathon Cup points:
32
This fantastic result brings Camille into 6th placing overall in the Marathon Cup... a great effort considering the comparatively short event.
The next race for Camille is the (now also shortened) Transjurrassienne in France on 17th February.
NSW TEAM CAMPAIGN
The juniors hit the ground still racing.... Ben and Chris still jetlagged after only getting of the plane a couple of days earlier competed in the Thredbo Triathlon in a team with Andrew Logan, Program Coordinator- Sport Services, JWASR. Ben swimming in artic conditions (the only one without a wet suit !) and Chris finishing off in the run (fastest run time). Their team finished 2nd in the teams category.
Saturday 9th Feb, Ewan Watson and Chris joined others in the JWASR roller Ski and Blade Race Series. Chris won the final of the sprints and Ewan winning the junior category. Now the wait for the next roller ski events and then... the snow !
