FIS Points
Where FIS Point standards are required, a single result of this standard must have been achieved within the preceding 12 months.National Rankings
The National Rankings are determined from the selection races set during the Australian season. For distance events, the national ranking shall be determined from the average percent of the best two results regardless of style. For sprint events the national ranking shall be determined from the percent of the best result regardless of style. Where the percentage result is the same between two competitors the next best result from each athlete will be included in the average.Discretionary Provision
The National XC Selection Panel will also be able to make a discretionary selection of a maximum of two men and two women to the National Squad and the Australian Junior Team on the basis of potential and commitment. This will also be dependant on the number of people already in the squad.Selection During the International Season
It is possible for skiers to move up from the National Squad to the Continental Cup Team and from the Continental Cup Team to the World Cup Team during the International Season on the basis of FIS Point results. These skiers may be eligible for additional benefits depending on the resources available. However, skiers outside the National Squad will not be added to National Teams during the International Season (they may however be selected to teams for Major International Competitions).National Championships
It is expected that all skiers eligible for selection (eg to World Cup Team or Continental Cup Team) via a FIS Point result will compete in the Australian Championships and National Selection races. Any skier with exceptional circumstances wishing to be selected to the team but not intending to ski in these races must apply in writing to the National Coach.
