Skiing Australia Cross Country (SAXC) is seeking expressions of interest for the position(s) of manager/coach for the Australian Junior Ski Team for the 2001/2002 international season.

The preliminary plan is for the Australian Junior Ski Team to travel to a central European location for 6-8 weeks, in preparation for the 2002 World Junior Championships in Schonach, Germany. The main aims of the tour are for the junior skiers to gain valuable international experience, and for junior skiers who reach a qualifying standard to compete at Schonach. The person(s) appointed will be responsible for the management of the team throughout the tour.

The 2002 World Junior Championships run from January 21 to January 27. Final tour dates and locations will be negotiated in consultation with the SAXC High Performance Manager. It is expected that additional coaching and waxing staff will be available to support the team at the World Junior Championships.

It should be noted that funding for the Australian Junior Ski Team tour has not yet been finalised. It is the intention of SAXC to cover all expenses of the manager/coach during the tour, with the possibility of a small amount of remuneration on top, however there is no guarantee of funding. Expressions of interest are welcome from people wishing to take on separate positions of coach and manager, however it is unlikely that there will be sufficient tour funding to cover the expenses of two persons.

Expressions of interest should indicate:

• team management experience
• coaching qualifications and experience
• period available to travel overseas
