Anti-Doping

Ski & Snowboard Australia has an anti-doping policy in line with the requirements of the Australian Sports Commission, the International Ski Federation (FIS) and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). This policy applies to all members of SSA and to all participants in SSA sanctioned events. The full policy (PDF 156kb) can be read on the SSA website.

Australian Sports Drug Agency (ASDA)
ASDA is Australia's anti-doping agency. They are responsible for coordinating the fight agaist doping in Australia, including all drug testing.

Details about banned substances are available on the ASDA Website. You can also call the ASDA Hotline on 1800 020 506 during normal business hours. The ASDA Hotline provides sport specific information regarding the status of medications in sport.

Athletes should be aware of the chances of Inadvertant Doping. The principal of strict liability always applies - athletes are ultimately responsible for substances found in their bodies and ignorance is no excuse.

Other news in about Anti-Doping is available on the WADA Website. The complete WADA Prohibited Substances List (PDF 100kb) is available on the SSA website (also the WADA and ASDA websites).

Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE)
A Quick TUE Guide (PDF 46kb) for athletes is available on the ASDA website, outlining the steps for use you need to take to apply for both a TUE and an abbreviated TUE. The most common circumstance requiring use of the abbreviated TUE is for the treatment of Asthma. Many members of the Australian XC Ski Team past and present have had Asthma and have been able to treat it and compete successfully in the sport.

The standard Abbreviated TUE Form (PDF 127kb) is available on the SSA website. Note that this form needs to be sent to SSA, not to ASDA as indicated in the TUE procedure on the SSA website. Follow the Quick TUE Guide or call the ASDA Hotline (1800 020 506) if you are unsure.

Athlete Whereabouts Forms
Out of competition testing relies on being able to find athletes any time of the year. If you are a member of the Australian Team then you may need to regularly advise SSA and ASDAof your planned training venues and locations. The Athlete Wherabouts Form (PDF 226kb) is available on the SSA website. You will be notified by SSA if you are required to submit this form (generally this will be athletes who are competing on World Cup, or at least members of the Australian Team).
